Radio Aztlan the award-winning Chicano/Latino alternative radio program broadcasts on the airwaves of KUCR88.3 FM the innovative community radio station affiliated with the University of California, Riverside and part of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Office.
For over 35 years, Radio Aztlan has provided original programming to listeners throughout the Inland Empire and beyond. Deejays have included students, staff, and community leaders airing shows on Friday nights beginning at 5:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday morning. Programming is designed to preserve, educate, and entertain by featuring news, interviews, calendario comunitario, and traditional/contemporary música Chicana.
Co-sponsored with UCR Chicano Student Programs, Radio Aztlan presents the annual Radio Aztlan Music Festival each April. The festival provides a platform for deserving talented regional and underground Chicano/Latino musical artists along with established recording artists. Highlighting the Festival is the presentation of Radio Aztlan’s Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing those who have made outstanding contributions to our community.
Radio Aztlan is a past recipient of the Entertainer of the Year Award (2006) presented Hispanic Lifestyle, a media group committed to promoting positive images of the Latino community.
