I was born in Florence, Arizona and raised in Indio, California. After high school I attended Riverside Community College and transferred to UC Riverside. I am the first in my family to go to college. I graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a B.A. in Chicano Studies. I joined the Chicano Student Programs staff in 1996 as a student assistant; I was later promoted to the Senior Clerk. One year later I returned and became the Cultural/Social programmer and in 2004 became Director.

I truly enjoy my job; it is absolutely my dream job. I enjoy working with the students, faculty and staff. My involvement, mentors and studies have influenced me to give back to the community and try to make a difference.
I grew up in a single family household. My mom’s values, survival and love for her children have also influenced and impacted my life.

I have been collecting Chicano button/pins, books and music. I enjoy listening to music, especially oldies, going to concerts & car shows and spending time with family and friends! At the current time I am a Grey’s Anatomy Fan! Tune in to KUCR 88.3 FM on Friday Nights and you might hear a familiar voice.

I encourage all of you to stop by our office; I look forward to working with you. Adelante!

I was born November 27, 1979 at the UC Irvine Medical Center. When I was about 4 my parents divorced and I came to live with my maternal Grandmother in Rubidoux. I began my education at Rustic Lane Elementary in Rubidoux. When I was about 11 my grandmother moved all of us (Grandma, Grandpa, 3 tias and 6 grandchildren) to Riverside where I attended Bryant Elementary, Central Middle School, graduating from John W. North in 1997.

I attended UC Riverside that fall, graduating in 2001 with a Bachelors of Arts in Chicano Studies. I joined Chicano Student Programs in November 2001 as a Senior Clerk and now hold the position of Social & Cultural Programmer.

I enjoy spending time with my son - Emiliano Andres, daughter – Iliana Marie, my husband - Jorge, and the rest of my extended familia. I also like to read novels by Chicano writers focused on our experiences.

4th year Liberal Studies Major with a Minor in Education and an Ethnic Studies Concentration. I am originally from Santa Ana and have worked in Chicano Student Programs for 4 years. I love working with Chicano Student Programs because I feel that I make a difference to our community after every event Chicano Student Programs presents. I also enjoy learning more about myself through the work I do with the office.
